Chairman Pip's Railway Thoughts

I’m not agreeing, but…

Posted in Customer service, Other general stuff about railways by Chairman Pip on 8 April 2010

Let it not be said that I am agreeing with the idiot Winterton following his “different type of people in Standard Class” jibe, because I’m not. Standard Class is fine by me. However, on Monday I had the opportunity to travel in First Class, because the fare was cheap (just £15.00 from Nottingham to London), so I will say this. It would be a lot more difficult in Standard Class, with the seats in 2 + 2 layout and closer together, to have watched Secret Diary of a Call Girl (also known as “Billie Being Rude”) without people that perhaps shouldn’t have seen what was on my screen seeing what was on my screen. So there are certainly some benefits to travelling in 1st.

Perhaps easier to watch in 1st Class

I always thought you were a little courageous to watch that in such close proximity to strangers but you have watched it in standard class, haven’t you?

This is true – however, Billie Being Rude, young persons wandering through a train. After all, if I was in Standard Class, as Sir Nicholas Winterton said:

people would be looking over your shoulder the entire time

And I’m sure they’d much rather look at Billie Piper in the altogether than anything Sir Nick was doing.
